In 2008 we witnessed a drop in real estate, 401ks, being gainfully employed, and our personal bank accounts. In 2009 the global economic crisis appears to be rapidly worsening. The economic catastrophe has affected us professionally and personally. At the ANGF fall meeting in Los Angeles, California, it was discussed and later agreed that the 2009 Summer conference will be postponed&emdash;not only due to the nation's and our personal current economic status, but to plan and take action on ANGF's organizational structure, update its national non-profit status and Constitution, rectify its financial issues, and solidify its status as a vital resource to the folklorico community nationwide. By securing ANGF's present we can safeguard its future as well as flourish in the decades to come.
The Executive Board and the Parliamentarian will work with members from the current and past ANGF board as well as current members to finalize Conference 2010, Non-Profit Restructuring, Revitalized Vision, Goals and Strategy.
Here is the list of current plans of action:
- Update and redesign of ANGF website,
- Outline of ANGF's proposed structure,
- Propose updated Constitution,
- Submit financial documents to a certified CPA,
- Solidify non-profit status,
- Revamp the current summer conference bid package, process and procedures,
- Propose other programs of ANGF,
- Develop the all new ANGF structure, and
- Meet to participate in finalizing ANGF's structure.
We are eager to continue working in the best interest of ANGF's future. In this atmosphere of hope laced with tremendous uncertainty, we want to let you know that ANGF will continue to be a valuable resource to all folklorico enthusiasts with a state of the art organization, legal infrastructure, and leadership. The goals and progress of the meeting set for March will be posted on this website. We look forward to continuing your faith in ANGF.
